Synopsis:
Ten-year old Yang Bo came to a remote village with his mother who went there to help with local educational undertakings. He and his neighbor Tan Feng were classmates and soon became good friends. One day Tan Feng stole a pocket watch from a deceased old folk. At the critical moment, Yang Bo gave fake testimony for him. Thus Tan Feng was grateful and took Yang Bo as his most reliable friend.
He Xiaoli, the daughter of Doctor He of the village clinic, had a little cute toy train, which Yang Bo and Tan Feng were both fond of. One day, Yang Bo was surprised to find the toy train was in Tan Fang’s “treasury”, since then their relations had changed somehow. Being jealous, Yang Bo told on Tang Feng, who was then severely punished by his father, a blacksmith, with a brand iron.
